Description
Ranch-sitting in snowy Colorado in February, I painted the snow fairy being forced to leave by the crocus fairies. 'Cause crocuses are the first things to bloom... or something. Unfortunately, I really am not at all happy with how the little crocus fairies turned out.16x20 watercolor on illustration board.

the picture is not so big that I can see the
details. But that doesnt matter .. as it is
here ... it is a sure beauty !

It's hard to tell what the Crocus fairies actually look like since this pictures is so small but they seem welldone to me - especially because of their small size, they still look pretty detailed.
I love the idea behind this and the design for the characters. Winter's dress is extremely beautiful with the light touches of green and blue. They do make her look like a late winter however, with the first bits of grass showing and the first flowers blooming, so she actually fits into the picture pretty well

I also love the colours in this piece - the chilled blues & whites of winter in with the greens of spring & the earthy browns.

Yeah, I do everything myself. I need to get rich and famous, so that I can get some slave labor aprentice to do my backgrounds! The other little task I HATE is transfering a sketch to the illustration board. I usually use an opaque projector and copy it by hand. Ugh and double ugh.
