It captures whole thing so well. You can entirely feel how terribly it must be for poor parents

ALL THE FEELS. This is not ok. Keep drawing, you fantastic fish. Keep helping me to keep everyone in the Silmarillion straight.

I think you're the only person I've ever heard say that XD I personally wouldn't mind various people making it into a TV series (because it would take like 11 movies to properly film it) but most people hate that idea.

Letting Peter Jackson go anywhere near the silmarillion is a recipe for the Dagor Dagorath ^^

Sometimes I wonder if it was happy for Finwe that he did not see all this horrible downfall. Well, though at least Arafinwe's line fared a little better. At least Galadriel went but returned.
I like your composition with the children walking away, turning their backs to the viewer and the parents sitting sad in the front.

Once he was reborn, though, he would have heard the whole story...and perhaps he would have seen what was happening from Miriel's tapestries in the halls of Vaire.
Thank you!

Like Fëanor, Finwë was never reborn. He agreed to stay in Mandos so Míriel could return to her body and among the living (she did change her mind). It was a certain kind of condition that she could be able to do that - an Elf cannot have two wives among the living, and Indis was still out there.
But Míriel didn't find her life the same when she returned to her body, and so she returned to Mandos, alive. She became the handmaiden of Vairë. She was eager to speak for Míriel when the debate about her, Finwë and Indis was on between the Valar. I got to admit that Vairë earned some respect from me from what she said...
So Finwë, Míriel and Fëanor stay together in Mandos, as a strange sort of fate rejoined them as family again. Míriel was re-embodied, Finwë and Fëanor were in spirit form. From that point on, she was known as Fíriel. It was a new name signifying her departure. It's the part of canon tale that's not told in the Silmarillion. And as a hint, I don't think any artist has depicted them as such a family yet.
As for Míriel and Indis, Míriel bore no grudge or jealousy towards Indis. She has seen and realized that what hurts Fëanor might have done, the children of Indis might be able to heal. She also regrets that she wasn't there to teach Fëanor more wisdom.

Those that did go were conflicted emotionally as well. Out of their children, Finrod at least. He had to leave his bride behind, and he was one of those who looked back at Aman several times when leaving.

That's definitely true; many (both going and staying) would have been emotionally conflicted about a multitude of different things. I was just reminded of those that stayed in this picture; since the plot line follows those that cross I think about them and their emotional states more frequently.
Also, I was thinking how hard it would be for Finarfin and Earwen to want to see their children again but at the same time they know that as long as the Doom of Mandos stands they can only see them again if they die and are released from the Halls of Mandos (so they were pretty lucky that one of their children managed to come back without dieing, even if she took longer to return).

Yeah. Not sure if I'd call her 'lucky' though, she still had to live through far more war than they did...
