Description
Key character from an original story. The basic concept is that he is the (unwilling) 'Savior', shown here in the third and final phase before the End, when he finally accepts what will come and his part in it.
He is not the Savior is the terms of the traditonal Biblical Messiah, but more of the central piece in the bettering of the world. So...

In the beginning, there were two (as there always are) keys: one of Obsidian and one of Alabastor. The Obsidian key was not designed to open the door to evil, as many have now come to suspect, but to open the door to the Otherworld, the world of shadows and hidden things. The Alabastor key, likewise, was not intended to open the door to permament good, but to a paradise, to an Eden of sorts, that many have come to associate as the complete opposite (and, of course, the place of Escape) of the World that they now live on.
But humans, as they always do, fought over who would control the keys and who should control the places to which the keys lead, because none would sit and negotiate these things and let the keys be taken by someone else in the meantime.
So, as the wars were being fought, Higher Powers That Be took the keys and hide them, in their respectively-coloured eggs, far away from the eyes and reaches of the humans, who were too busy in their greed to notice that the keys had disappeared at all. Until it was too late, of course.

Many years passed, then, and many continued to look for the keys - but they were very well hidden by those who knew the many lands very well. And many looked for the Alabastor key, especially, because as time went by, the many lands started to slowly, very very slowly, decay and they knew that, as unseeming as it may have been, the many lands were not immortal and the Alabastor key needed to be found. Fewer looked for the Obsidian key, but still did they look for it. Because just as many looked to good as looked to something else - bad, they thought it, though bad it was inherently not. Though power in the wrong hands can lead to worse cosequences.
Which is what the Company had in mind. Already they had harnessed a power not to be used lightly, and word, such as it travels fast in the age of Techonology, spoke of an egg of the blackest night and an egg shining like the winter sun. In response to mere rumors, They created 'aids' to help them in their search, beings not human mind or action. Only the keys could them now, in the End. And thus the Resistance was born as well, a group as much against the Companies deeds as for finding the keys before the Company finds them.

Nevertheless, look as hard as they might, the keys would be worthless to them, in the end. Those Higher Powers That Be not only sought to hide the keys, but to protect them should they be found. If the wrong hand only but touches them softly, the keys, and the shells that bind them, will turn to dust and blow away. Only one, the Savior who is truly selflessness in themself, can handle to the keys and use them for the purpose they were created.

And thus, Vaine here, is that such person.

And here, he is contemplating contemplating such a task. Or marveling at the deliciousness of Hot Chocolate.

Note: I hate writing on Religion because of the problems that such, uh, views can cause. I don't mean to offend anyone in any way, if I did.
