Description I made this photo while on a long tough hike around Rinker Lake (on which my forward attack base for forest fires is situated) to the mouth of a fast flowing stream surrounded by cedar and moss. The lush area is very hard to access due to the thick cedar growth surrounding it.. these old trees give the streambed a very tropical feel despite this being the heartland of the Canadian Shield boreal forest.. a rare little ecosystem I was glad to happen upon last week.

HDR image.. 3 shots bracketed at 1/3EV.

The way these boreal forests look so ancient and pristine in their own way. Very moody capture, with that nice natural division between green vegetal top and gray watery/rocky bottom and the water running wild and free like it's actually more flying than flowing.

it was an unusual little isolated cedar environment in the heart of Canadian Shield boreal forest ... very dark, lush, and sheltered .. but tougher than hell to hike through

Amazing HDR!! I'm having a very hard time believing the 2 comments/202 favs right now :0 I guess this has just left everyone speachless I really like how the rendering has not been overdone like in lots of hdr work. Great job.
