Very cool, except for the minor detail that the paper/drawing surface has no visible means of scolling, which lowers the realism feeling for me.
The drawing mechanism as an idea is brilliant but could be better just by adding a bit more bulk to the write head motorics and making the drawing area feel like it could possibly be one strip of magnetic paper looping over and over, and getting wiped on new loop...
