And as I looked at it further, the little bit of water dripping from the tail is a brilliant touch too. Just a wonderful piece from top to bottom

I didn't know what a scauldron is but I've looked it up and I can
see why you are reminded of one. They are thicker it seems. More round.
Of course, this serpent is also a beast that spends most of its time in the ocean.
