These Pokemon are adorable. Personally, I think they would make for some awesome starter Pokemon. Although I would have a hard time choosing one I would want them all. Β

When it comes to Pokemon, especially those of the first generation, simplicity really is best. Most people that design PokeGods tend to overdo them as ornate beasts more at home in a typical RPG, or they opt for doing them in the style of a later generation (most notably Arceus "clones").
Thing is, the PokeGods were definitive of the first generation, so it's only fair for their design themes to match those of the original 151.
What I like about this quick little sketch is that, at a glance, I can tell that you significantly simplified their designs compared to your previous renditions. This immediately makes me connect to them on a level more true to the feelings the phenomenon actually evoked, so good job there.
Pikablu is always good, and in this instance I get a distinct "glazed" or distracted look you would find in an actual fish. Not sure if that's what you were going for.
Pikaflare is where I can see the most simplification having taken place. You've defined it by its personality, and through that any physical redundancies can be removed. I also note that the ears are much more fiery, so would I be right in assuming you've taken some inspiration directly from the Honoguma artwork?
Finally, Pikabud. This is the guy I actually had the most problems with, as your previous design (or at least your rendition of it) seemed very overdone. While I liked the design, it seemed very much like Pikabud was just wearing the outfit rather than it being a joined thing. Here I can really get a sense of Pikabud as a distinctly Grass "elemental" because the "outfit" is more form-fitting and thus seems more of an extension of the body rather than distinct from it. I think the decision to replace its cheeks with leaves is a better choice thematically, as they're far more subtle and too much red clashes with the green (a distinctly third gen problem). Only problem I can see here is the lack (?) of a tail, which was one of the previous design's best features. The thin whisp and tiny circular leaf really brought together the feeling of Pikabud as a sprite or fairy, which at least fits my perception of the PokeGod (very small and easily overlooked in the tall grass).
Overall much better designs. Simplicity really is best, and for Pokemon a particular creature is better defined by its personality. The personality for the three sets them apart as a trio and as PokeGods.

Oh, no problem. It really makes me happy to see someone acknowledging the PokeGods like you do, when most other people just say "Oh, they're fake Pokemon." You seem to have a lot more respect for that whole thing, or at least a healthy nostalgia.
The thing with the beta artwork (Honoguma included), is that none of it really had any personality. You can only take so much inspiration from any of them, but I think you took just the fiery charm from Honoguma that your design of Pikaflare needed.
Yeah, that's what I get from Pikabud too. Pikablu is in danger because everyone's looking for it, Pikaflare is "GRR I'M ANGRY" because it's the fiery, powerful one of the group, and Pikabud just has no idea what's going on because no one ever looked for it. haha
Looking forward to seeing these guys more, or any other PokeGods if you're up for it.
