Description I saw this movie a few days ago and it was absolutely delicious. A delicious masterpiece of eye candy. Everything from the lush scenery, the fluid animation, and yes, even the character development.

I'm trying to take my first (painful) steps out of my comfort zone (I can't draw dragons for the life of me, let alone Night Furies!). It turned out to be all the more difficult because of a lack of adequate reference art. Unfortunately, that's why I based Toothless' pose on the only picture I could find of him facing the other way. Shame I drew Hiccup from behind, too, in none of his pubescent glory. Well, if you're looking for that, I suggest watching the movie d:
Quick, messy Now slightly better background because I put a little more patience in to add better detail. Download for fullview.

I keep promising myself to draw fanart for every enjoyable series/show I finish watching...let's see if I'll keep that up.

BGM: Equilibrium - HeimwΓ€rts Β  [Heavy metal within! I've found that Viking metal pairs well when drawing equally metal Vikings. This entire album reminds me of HTTYD. There's nothing quite like drawing an epic adventure to uncharted lands to the tune of Equilibrium]

It certainly was a great movie! but iirc, my only minor quibble was how...blue everything was, compared to how lush and green the first movie appeared. Pretty, oh yes definitely, but after less than ten minutes of sitting in the dark and staring up at the screen, my contacts were already drying out [x

ehheheh ^^'; Any takers for sentimentally straining robots...?
oh hey, you posted more art! wh-why am I suddenly getting gijinka feels again what are these ideas I'll be right back *absconds to scribbles

And i continue the tradition of late replies.

Ay, i can know what you mean! Β I think i might of watched it in 3d, so my poor eyes were dying pretty soon. (Ah, the pain of wearing glasses. And 3d glasses on top. Unfortunately i'm too much of a wimp and also too lazy to try contacts, after my mum told me all of those horror stories of eye infections and proper cleaning protocols and whatnot.)Β

Oooohh, i haven't seen that anime yet, but dang it looks great. When i get some time, going to grab some friends and watch the heck out of it!
*whispers yessss, let the gijinka feels overwhelm youuuu* i keep on forgetting to crosspost to deviantart, but i'm not sure if i should keep sketches here? or just make a sketch dump. but it's sooooo much wooooorrk ugh

'ey, no problem! haha, contacts aren't as bad as most say, though. 'least the two-week disposable kind, which are the ones that I wear. You hardly ever notice when they're in, either. Needless to say, they don't make contacts like they used to...and that's a good thing [x

dude, if this is Casshern Sins you're talking about...chances are you don't want to watch that one with friends. It's one of those shows that most can only stomach to watch once. It's moody as heck and brilliantly animated with an additional heaping helping of robogore...but that's precisely why I like it.

the gijinkas are coming, they're coming...

I love that blotchy, water-colory background! It's very scenic!

Thanks for the feedback! Glad that it worked out even while I attempted something new.
