I'm glad to see someone else remembers PPGZ in a more positive light.
Sure, it wasn't as smart as the original, but I thought it was a kind of neat adaptation in concept.

I've watched just TOO. MUCH. ANIME. in my life. That leads me to know pretty much what to expect from the series. Still, i downloaded all the episodes that were stated to have "HIM" in it, and i was adequately entertained. Lol... I'm almost tempted to dl the rest, buuut...

I honestly LOVE Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z. I always tell people "if you really want to watch it, I definitely recommend it. But please- it is definitely not a remake of the original. It's vastly different in many aspects which may or may not upset you"
I love your art here~ it's so cute. I want to cosplay Blossom so bad cause I honestly love these designs more than the originals. but the original is still near and dear to me

The japanese spinoff was working with a benefit that the re-boot doesn't have.... It has a different setting.Β PPG and PPGZ are wildly different but both feel like powerpuff girls because they have the same goal, I.E. writing stories based on three common (but layered) girl tropes and lampooning Superhero tropes. Β It's just that the tropes are different due to the cultural biases.Β Perhaps enough time has passed to give them more stuff to work with.Β It's possible.

The original (in the earlier episodes) probably challenges more often.... Pushes more boundaries but ran into unfortunate "seasonal rot" later on.Β PPGZ has a plot-ish and doesn't overstay it's welcome.Β It is also fun to look at the cultural trope equivalents solves.Β PPGZ went "what if PPG was done in japan" and rather than half-assed Japanese localization one would expect, they took that premise to heart and seemed to put love into it.

All I have said is best represented in the SUB... as it is a very japanese show... but they didn't get a "funimation" type studio to dub it.... Sooooo the jokes get lost a bit in translation... also censorship happens.
