Description I got totally Gaga and did a revise of my earlier post of my Old Zatanna drawing. I maintained the pose change a bit of the hair and make her look like one her versions in her recent books but this time without the jacket and the big Ol' Hat Gonna splash colors on this later and see what I can come up as a background. Penciled and inked on 11 x 17 vellum paper.

Some slick inks. You're pretty damn good with traditionals!

thanks i'm experimenting more on the clean style these days because of the trend on less details. but more on volume. I'm glad comics nowadays are going back to the basics.

I agree. I was actually in the middle of work on something yesterday but i became fustrated at the level of details i was trying to put into it, but it was pointless. I want to do that simple looking stuff that has a fixation on lighting and shapes, but still has a suggestion of detail.

I think the style of the 90's is a passe these days because of the never ending deadlines on comics and the rise of animation style that goes with these characters. Imagine how Bruce Timm got rich with his clean style..and that has been the style that DC has been doin' since then. Hughes is not into details that much observe his lines theyre simple but more volume and a solid anatomy is what he implies on his art...but the way he colors them is really mind blowing always making them real as if you can feel them. That guy my friend is what I call a genius

Ahh i agree. A lot of the older comics were simple but that period when details and heavy inks were present, it seems difficult to keep going with it. Now a days video games and such are taking over, so the comic industry has taken a hit as far as it's consumer base. (You ask most teens now if they read comics and they say now, but every one of them plays a damn video game). I used to love doing inks but over time i have gotten so much critique that i have lost my direction. I see guys like Adam Hughes and i always love the realism, but it's implied realism. The color is good, but it wouldn't bas as good without the amazing line work.

Spawn comics used to be some of my favorite "over detailed" comics. Personally i'm wanting to do much more simple work but the characters i have developed over the years don't really work with simple...well i have not learned it yet.

I think i may go back to my roots with ink lines though. I don't do the comic inks (where you suggest lighting with black and white sections) but i love the simple animation inks. I saw a guy on here that i really like the ink look. It's simple as hell, but it's the line weight and style that brings it out...i need to learn that stuff again.

Auronasia? Yeah that guy is good. He has that anime comic thing goin on his art. It's simpler and no fuzzy stuff.
