► Gentle

  He hates seeing people get hurt, and he'll try to the best of his ability to provide what he can to alleviate some of that suffering. He's helpful to a fault, although some people might take advantage of this, as long as he can help, he will. He doesn't mind getting taken advantage of, anyway.

► Laid-back

  He always treats everyone around him the same, relaxed, a pleasant smile gracing his features, speech polite. He really doesn't like the feeling he has when he feels negative emotions, so he always suppresses what he really thinks. People might call it running away, but really, in his opinion, getting angry's not worth it at all. There's also the fact that time passes by loosely for him.

► Forgetful

  Due to his age, he has a problem maintaining memories of those he's met unless you've met him consistently for more than a week. But, if something's imprinted into his memory, it'd be very, very hard for him to forget.

► Trusting

Because he wants to see the good in everyone, he'll always be rather trusting. As a result, he can be... really gullible.

► Naive

He's spent his entire life on a mountain. He literally has no clue about anything.

STORY

Yasu is a tree spirit who, quite suddenly, almost three centuries ago, sprung up in a mountain forest.

He had always been called the slow one amongst the others, but the rest of the kodama befriended him nonetheless. They were family, after all. Plus, it helped that apparently before his birth, the mountain god had risen from its sleep, rounding the mountain once before returning to wherever it slept. The spirits took it that the mountain god favored him, and saw him as a blessing. He lived on that mountain for almost two hundred years in peace.

There were several times that he was almost cut down, but before they could, the humans who tried were punished by the mountain god. He'd get away with nothing more than the beginnings of a shallow swing of an axe. The mountain god favored him, after all, and he lived for very long, until even the humans noticed and started worshipping him as a holy tree, dedicating a shrine to him.

However, a few decades ago, a disease crept into the mountain forest. The rot was pervasive, and it infected many of the other kodama, (including him). Noticing this, the villagers, in a bid to contain it, set every tree in the area on fire. He couldn't do anything. He couldn't stop them, couldn't prevent it from happening - he witnessed all his friends languishing in the flames, screaming at him, reflective of the trees they lived in. But, since the mountain god favored him, he remained alive.

He moved to Okumatta, then, because he didn't want to be near that place anymore. It brought up too much hatred, made him feel so much, and he didn't want that. He didn't want to see humans anymore, and he didn't want to stay on that mountain until he died because of the rot, at the whim of the mountain god, or lived, in pain, also at the whim of the mountain god. He thought, at least, he'd spend the rest of his days with his past buried, helping those who needed help, because back then, he couldn't.

> Under his bangs, there's a bandage with mint leaves packed under, covering his rotting flesh, making him smell strongly of mint.

> He gets up very early in the morning to gather medicinal plants and herbs for the pharmacy, so you'll see him around mostly right before and after dawn. It's a plus that he gets to be there when the birds wake up, too.

> There's a small vegetable garden by his house in which he grows herbs and vegetables, and if you ask he'll be more than happy to give you some.
