Description Done in Dec last year for a novel cover.
DA title isn't its official name, it is originally called"sword of dreams", but I would rather treat it as an environmental piece.

We've had excellent reactions to the cover. All of our readers simply adore your work, Rowena. Not as much as Aron and I do, though

This looks awesome. Very fitting for a cover.
I must say that the top part of the image, where the buildings are that much further away should be more affected by atmospherics. Less value variation, since the stuff is far away. It might come off a little flat otherwise.
Once again, you're awesome.

Pretty fantastic! I haven't been drawing as much as I could, but when I do, I am happy. I think that I'm doing better as a hobby artist than as a professional at the moment.

How about you?

I like the color scheme and the elegant design of the buildings. - in fact the entire thing is amazing save for that random guy over there. He looks out of place and takes away from the possible scale of the buildings (as in, they appear huge untill you notice the guy). Makes me wonder if it was some kind of requirement that was added or a planned thought, because it kind of looks like the former.
Other than that, a really amazing work.

I personally think he should not be there, but the author would love to have figures.
If you refer to the ones in her website, he is a lot bigger.

aaah. Yeah somehow the impact of the picture is a little dimmed by the figure. Still, the rest is a really beautiful picture.

This is GORGEOUS!!! How did you do the tiny city lights? Was it a custom brush or a texture?

...or did you paint them all in manually? x_o;;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wang2dog In reply to GaleforceRin [2012-02-21 02:30:10 +0000 UTC]

for a purpose of sharpness and variety, I use photo images and dodge mode.
It is taking too long to paint these lights and retain that sharpness.
