Description Another older shoot (can you tell I am going through old files and negatives?) and this one was a fun one. Memorable mainly as it was the first shoot with my own backdrop. Anyway I hope you like.

How do you find your models? They seem all different and from different backgrounds.

90% of them aren't models but girls i know or who know my work. Take some good photos of a girl, behave yourself and get a good reputation as not being a sleaze and when you ask a girl she will say yes. In fact get a good enough reputation for good work and keeping the flirtation to the minimum needed and they will start paying you to shoot them if you ask for it.

Very nice way of working
How does your girlfriend or wife happen to accept the sensuality in your pictures?

not very well, that is the hardest part, getting them to not compare themselves to the women in the photos. They aren't worried about cheating or anything, no women aren't that simple, they develop issues about you shooting models and not shooting them as much or being creative with them. lol. It's a struggle but it does help if they have always known you as a photographer

That's funny in a way. You mean they become jealous of the achievements done with others. It is another way of you cheating in their mind?
How do you solve this (it seems it is still an issue when they know you as a photographer)?

Oh no, not jealous of the achievements but jealous of the attention you give the model. And not really jealous its more physical self confidence. Unless you are dating the most beautiful woman in the world, then as a photographer you are going to often photograph women equally or better looking than your significant other, and they will see your work and know it. And they will get confused why you are with them because they think men base affection only on how good a girl looks to the guy. See where I am going with this. I wouldn't mention it if it hadn't popped up more than once with me. You have to spend a lot of time reaffirming your relationship with them to give them confidence.

By reaffirming, you mean making them understand that this relationship is not based on the looking or the appearance but on the being.
How do you make them feel this in opposition to the link you still build through the shots on your model?

well one thing i have learned the hard way is to not criticize the looks of models in photos when the model is better looking then the GF and she is present to hear the critique of the photos. She will understand if you think the model is better looking, she can see that for herself. She won't easily understand you criticizing the looks of someone who is better looking if the GF is not also a photographer. She will think that if you criticize someone who is better looking's looks, then what must you think of her. And yes that one is an example from experience.

Thanks for these details
I wish we, my wife and I, could use models for our photos.
I am not talking about nude or fetish photos
I am not sure she would agree on this.
And I cannot leave photos of my wife on the internet, for that I have my walls.

I am a bit trapped

I look forward to the day that I can get a solid white backdrop aside from some old bedsheets pushpinned to a wall. The angle really makes this one. Great shot.

seriously you don't have to wait too much longer, this was not a studio it was my bedroom ( i just shoved the matrress against the wall for room) and house lights (though all of them i will admit) and a 104" wide paper backdrop that i got for 64 dollars. The paper ones aren't that expensive at all, though they don't last forever, but they are good for a couple of shoots if you are gentle with them.
