Before I talk about this comic, some links. I uploaded another gimmick review to youtube, this one is for Sonic Adventure: [link] and if you remember the first Riders game the extreme gear ran on compressed air, behold as the real world catches up to fiction![link] (Remember to rate and comment on my video and subscribe to my channel.)Ok, about the comic now. I loved the Sonic riders games (way more than mario cart) but come on, those things top out at 2-300 mph, Sonic can easily run that fast backwards (a la episode one of Sonic X.)
edit: Btw, just in case anyone complains that Sonic is being limited to a vehicle in racing games, think of it this way. If allowed to run at full speed, the races would always come down to Sonic and Shadow, and the game would be terribly unbalanced. Though Sonic still has a slight edge even in a vehicle since he has the REFLEXES of someone who runs at mach 1 on his morning jog.

Next time some complains about sonic being in a car Β I'm giving them a copy of Sonic R and telling them to unlock super sonic then pick one of the extras like tails doll, then they'll realize why sonic is in a car

A single gear tops out at 500 mph and those are the ones that strictly need to go straight like drag racers. Sonic can move at 760+ mph for literally hours without tiring, going backwards, forwards, spinning, moving side to side and even in his sleep. To me, while the kart racing and hoverboard racing was cool and all, in every racing game, Sonic needs to be the only character running.

but that wouldn't be fair, in any organized sport there are strict limits placed to make sure nobody has an unfair advantage. You can't take an indy 500 racer onto a nascar track, you can't box a guy who weighs 100 pounds less than you, and you can't use a jet engine in a drag race. If you read the Sonic Universe issue with the All Stars Racer adaptation, the off panel from that comic sums things up in a perfect nutshell.

It's not like Jet himself gave a s**t to the rules. He blew up Sonic's Gear at the end of EX World Grand Prix and wasn't disqualified, remember?

because he thought it was a cheap board built by a rank amateur (aka Tails, who just learned what extreme gear was a few days prior.)

I doubt he would think that after Storm reporting about his defeat by Knuckles in such panic. Besides, Jet was LOSING that race!

there was never any indication that Jet knew Sonic's board was rigged, actually the fact that he thought he was going to lose the race is proof of that.Β If he knew that Sonic's board was going to blow up right before the finish line he wouldn't have been worried about it.Β Jet simply thought Sonic's board was cheaply made and blew up when Sonic pushed it too hard (which in Jet's mind Sonic would have had to do in order to beat him.)

Considering the whole EX World Grand Prix was all part of Eggman's and Jet's scheme, It's hard to believe Jet wasn't responsible for this case. Otherwise, he'd demand a rematch like he did in Free Riders.

I don't have anything against the recent sonic racing games, but i think they should make a racing game where Sonic is on foot. Since he's the fastest thing alive? That would be real fanservice. Yes, sonic R did it, but the controls were awkward. Just improve the controls and we have a great game

I love your Sonic Crackup comics. The humor is always in good spirit and not insulting or mean. This Riders one is something I thought about a lot too. Sonic really would need to be in a vehicle or he would win every race before anyone else finished the first lap. But I had thought about the reflexes thing too. I was a fan of the game (even more so after Archie issue 223 where Bean and Bark had boards too) but the only way I could beat the heroes story was to play it on my computer since it can't process fast enough for the game to run at full speed. That slowdown gave me the edge I needed to win. And I always thought about it as if I was seeing the game from Sonic's point of view.
On a sidenote I always played enough races when I installed it to get the Omnipotence and always had Tails race on it, since it looks a lot like his old Seafox submarine

sonic riders reminds me of sega all stars racing(you know the one where everyone INCLUDING SONIC is racing in cars).

The only thing that turned me off of the riders games were the babylon rogues, once I get past them, they're very fun and that's an excellent point on the racing games
