At least one of them doesn't resemble Bruce Lee.

Hmm? Well I watched a video of Jacky just now, and although I can see some traits that would be considered "real" JKD I'd still say over all its just movie jkd...
But don't get me wrong, "Movie JKD" isn't fake, its just exaggerated for the sake of movie...
Example; Real JKD is about complete efficiency, no wasted energy/motions, every punch, kick, etc is based on science of human kinetics from head to toe, etc etc... It's non classical, and is simple and direct, nothing flashy..
Movie JKD is a more exaggerated, a more showy version, for example "the bouncing around" realistically Bruce in a real fight didn't do that, but in the movies did it for the sake of bouncing..
Also in the movies there was a mix of some classical Gungfu to give flower to it..
After all! People want to see cool flowery martial arts in movies its what makes things interesting, no one wants to see a plain and simple strike that ends something in seconds and that's the end!
Jeet Kune Do isn't a MMA it has it's own moves and science of how to do each move, it has it's own philosophy.
When I watched Jacky's game play he right off the bat did the "Dragon seeks path" stance from "Return of the dragon" which is definitely a more classical style...
I think all of these game Bruce Lee's do the movie version, but that's still cool, because while it's not exactly JKD its just the version that sells!
If you learn JKD and you watch carefully you'll still see some things that are JKD but you'll notice somethings that are there that are more for showiness.. lol
Remember my friend there is Real JKD which is called "Jun Fan JKD" and there is "JKD Concepts" which takes JKD philosophy and incorporates it into styles of other martial arts, then there is "Movie JKD" which is a exaggerated cool flashy version that mystifies people who watch!
(The thing about JKD Concepts is that if you don't really fully understand what JKD is then you won't be keeping it "JKD" you'll then change it and it technically shouldn't be called "JKD" anymore but should be called "Your own style" Too many people don't understand this and that is why there is so much misunderstanding about what JKD really is...)
Feel free to ask me anything if you have questions! LOL

Wow, you really seem to know a lot of things about JKD o_O I even read Bruce Lee's intercepting Fist, and this is still new to me.
And yeah, after watching some Jacky videos I realized that he to leans more forward Movie JKD.
I have a question though, is Movies JKD actually effective? and can people use it in real life?

Hafu-Inuyasha In reply to WahaAdnan [2011-06-05 19:08:21 +0000 UTC]
Oh yeah! Actually it's because I've been studying about JKD for a long time, and have been training it for the last while! Besides I've been looking up to Bruce Lee since the moment I first learned about him when I was really really young! lol
Believe me though, after Bruce died, there was a huge uproar for JKD and there was tons of people who tried to make a profit off of Bruce Lee's name/art!
For a long time one of Bruce Lee's friends taught "JKD Concepts" but the problem was people didn't understand it properly and what happened was people started to pretty much think JKD was literally having no form as form, and misunderstood the teachings and basically threw together anything and named it JKD, which is why it's not so uncommon that people know little or still misunderstand what JKD is!
As for your question, the truth is, if the person you are fighting "sucks" then anything will work! haha
But as far as efficiency goes, "movie JKD" is full of excess motions, and is more meant for looking cool rather then effectiveness...
It really depends on the quality of your opponent, realistically I'd rather go with "real JKD"..

haha It really is! Actually the more I learn the more respect I have for Bruce! The art he was working on was so amazing!
No problem! Feel free to ask away, I would be happy to share with people about the true legacy Bruce left behind rather then continue to let people become more and more lost about what JKD really is all about!

Yeah its pretty sad! I mean this one time I went into footlocker (athletic shop) and was asking if they had a yellow tshirt with black strips down the side, anyways all the people who worked here were at least 18-22 and not one of them knew who Bruce Lee was, or what JKD was not even the movie "Game of Death" and the worst part was they didnt even seem to care!
I mean people these days, you think they'd at least know something about one of the greatest people to have ever lived!

Not really, Marshall Law makes almost the exact same sounds, and also does some of Bruce Lee's signature moves.
