Fanart for one of the best anime I watched last year, and one of the manga I'm most hooked on now as I find bits and pieces of it... but it sure isn't for everyone. You either love it or hate it. Even the director of the anime hated it.I learned to hate this picture, because expression and anatomy wise, this has been one of my worst pics in a long time. Therefore, it stayed in my sketchbook after it was finished for a couple months before I felt like uploading (now). The composition and coloring are too good to let it waste away unseen, though.
The title of the anime is Bokurano, and you should watch it because the opening theme is GREAT, and Akira Ishida does a mascot voice. By far, that is the meanest mascot I have ever seen.
And the character designs don't belong to me. Fair enough?

Not bad. Their faces are actually pretty accurate. They look almost exactly like in the show/manga.
And they're all wearing the uniforms!
I think Kanji's face should be a little longer, but, again, pretty good. ^_^

I find out that all the way till Maki's fight, the costume was seen (on Komo). Then after that, it was POOF! gone~

The manga went a lot more into character detail.
I loved Nakama's efforts and character.

See, that's why I think the manga is better then the anime. Don't get me wrong, the anime is pretty good too, but the manga has so much more details to the characters. Not to mention the layers upon layers of desperation and not holding back any punches (and let's admit it, if we like the story at all, we like those sucker punches it throws at us).

I totally agree. People keep bawling over the anime, though they have never even glanced at the manga.
The manga is just so much more intense in almost every way.
Example:
Chiziru accidentally pushes Kako down the stairs as the building around him is imploding-VS-Chizuru stabs Kako in the neck with a dagger while smiling.
...hmmmmmm.

Although there are some changes to the anime that I can see being justified. Like Morihiro Hatagai, for instance. I can see why they toned him down, considering the things he did to poor Chizuru.... then again, letting him walk free in itself is quite a feeling, since most other series would have him dead (bad guys die and all that)...

Ugh. He was quite the unsettling character.
Then again, Chizuru's sister will straighten him out eventually.
I also saw that they appealed to the crowd that didn't want to kill Kana, so that was kind of a fallback cushion that made me feel kind of happy.

They also saved Seki. Man, in the manga, Kanji's fight was really intense! Anime version was a little less so...

Nice fanart for a great anime. You're right that it is one of the best, and the final episode was one of the greatest things ever.
For your picture, I especially love the way they're all looking at something offscreen, that's not done very often, and I love how through the emotions they have you can pretty much catch a glipse at their backstory.

Interesting picture, that's a lot of characters in a very dramatic setting, which is cool.

....I guess technically it's a mecha show, but I have a lot of trouble getting into those. This one doesn't feel like the typical ones, because it has more focus (for most of the series) on the kids, and the battles are more interesting than simple humanoid robots blasting each other with guns in space. Plus, it's got plenty of gut-wrenching events to make you yell "nooo!" and the plot twists tend to break their own rules of the series. It's one you'll either love or hate, but if you try it out, watch the first 2 episodes instead of 1, okay?
You at least have to see the opening, which should be easy to find on YouTube.

I don't care for mecha, but I end up watching and liking a lot of mecha shows. XD (I recently watched Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann, which starts out as a deceptively cliche-seeming mecha show, then becomes more and more awesome as it simultaneously embraces and transcends shounen mecha show cliches.) If Bokurano focuses more on the people than the giant robots, that's a plus for me.
I watched the Bokurano intro. I really liked the song, and now I understand the title of your drawing.
