Why the bloody wings? cuz I was feeling crappy? nope, it's cuz I wanted to do something with the background again. I initially used a purple background but it didn't seem to look nice. so I put the wings....still wasn't feeling satisfied so I changed the colour to blue...a bit better. but blah. I love the eyes and hair....and since I rarely do male musculature, I think this was a pretty okay attempt. the tear.....uh....something about the expression doesn't fit it but then there was the wings...so...when it comes down to it, what was the feeling I was trying to convey? I think it was sadness. But Ken-sama doesn't look so sad. but then it wasn't supposed to be a sad picture. The blood represent the numerous sins Ken-sama committed as a Battousai and the wings, his child-like innocence despite that. He went through hardships at a young age, but he still managed to retain his goodness. I think he's sweet really. Does the washing, cooking, caring...a really warm person really. *sigh* Ken-sama~~ that and it seems I have a penchant for characters who are good-looking, purple-eyed and have nice beautiful hair. Or at least, at the time of my obsession with Rurouni Kenshin it was. Duo....Kenshin....Tsuzuki......I think there were quite a number more but I've forgotten really.
Sins of an Idealist? I think Kenshin can be called one.

erm...on kenshin fansites? Actually, if you watch the OVA series, where they talk about his past, you can find out about it. unless you want me to spoil it for you here....XD I know all about it if you really wanna know. it's kinda touching. It's related to when he first became a battousai and when he stopped being one.

Uh well, in the first OVA, which talks about when he first became battousai, he gets the scar in a fight with the fiance of Tomoe, whom he kills. Later, he meets Tomoe during a fight with an assasin. Later on, Tomoe acts as his fake 'wife' as they both go into hiding and pretend to be husband and wife. They fall for each other. Little does Kenshin know that Tomoe actually is in conection with people who want to kill Kenshin. She doesn't kill kenshin because she has doubts as she has fallen for him. Her superior sets out to kill Kenshin. She was unconscious and arrives on the scene as Kenshin, partly blinded and senses turned askew by his opponent, makes a desperate slash against his opponent.
As Kenshin slashes, he doesn't realise that Tomoe has jumped in front of him to defend him with a tanto blade. It's very odd here and doesn't make much sense to me, but apparently he slashes her AND the opponent. The tanto flies up and makes the other scar, creating an X on Kenshin's face which doesn't heal for a very long time. After that he sets off wandering, swearing never to kill again and become battousai.
The TV series follows sometime during his wandering and he meets Kaoru and the gang.
The 2nd OVA follows off from the end of the TV series whereby Kenshin and Kaoru are both married and has a son "Kenji". Kenji is grown up in that OVA, so is Yahiko. The son, disgusted with the father who is MIA, sets out to train under Kenshin's former master and learn the Hiten Mitsurugi style. Kaoru is in bad health as she contracts the same disease that is currently afflicting Kenshin (leprosy). Yahiko goes to call Kenji back on Kaoru's wishes while Sanosuke finds a frail Kenshin living on some coastline where he washed up upon. Sano sends him off on a ship back to Japan and Kenshin, who is by now has a failing memory and motor skills, somehow manages to return to the dojo surroundings, who somehow also sensing him, has walked out in her bad state and they both finally meet and hug. Kenshin dies and Kaoru is assumed to have passed away not long after.
:/ Kenji dates a girl who looks rather like his mom. -.-
End of Story. mind you, that's the anime. In the manga you don't see such an ending but just Kenshin and Kaoru with a baby Kenji and living happily ever after(supposedly)

Yeah same here. The story tapped into so many themes, guilt, redemtion, love, betrayel, honor... It's a beautiful story and Kenshin is a beautiful character.

I did that because I felt like it. Plus, I've been a fangirl of Rurouni Kenshin since I first got into it back in Sec2, which was, what 1999? It's true that ruroken fanart isn't common, but it doesn't mean it still doesn't have its fans or the fans don't like it anymore. It's just like reading books. You like it, but you move on to more or better reading material. Its what we call variety.
I've had many favourites over ther years, but doesn't mean I don't like Rurouni Kenshin anymore. It brings very fond and nolstagic feelings when I think about it. I'm happy you like the picture a lot in any case.

Haha, yeah, Kenshin can look really cute. ^_^ He was one of my first anime loves too, brings back lots of memories of my old fangirlism.
