Oh that's so AWESOME!!! :33 Tips...Um...
Okay so I'm gonna put a bunch of stuff, and then a summary if you'd rather not read it. X33

I guess make sure to take into consideration that Jack's an actual human being. It sounds silly, but I just think that's the only way to describe what I want to say. Jack has wrinkles, laugh lines, bags, imperfect eyebrows, etc. He is 26 (Soon to be 27), so adding too many wrinkles and other details is at a risk of making him look very old, but too little can lead him to look too young. You just have to find some middle balanced area, since sometimes it looks like he has less wrinkles than others. Moving off the topic of wrinkles! X33 For facial hair, keep in mind that a beard is not just one shape on its own. Facial hair is grown like regular hair is, so it's not just a block of color on the face. Jack's facial hair specifically is two different colors, his mustache just a bit lighter than his beard, and his eyebrows kinda a mixture of both. Then when taking photos, facial expressions can really help make you look more like the person you're trying to cosplay. For example, when smiling, each person has a certain way of squinting their eyes, or grinning. (Meaning your teeth are showing, rather than just a closed mouth smile)

SO! If you didn't feel like reading all of that, remember Jack is a human, and he has imperfections in his look. Details can make a HUGE difference and so can facial expressions!! And of course, HAVE FUN!!!

I hope that helps and have an awesome time cosplaying the green bean!!! :3

thank you so much that really helps! I have actually taking make-up classes for that, the trouble I'm having is... I... DON'T KNOW HOW TO HAND SEW HIS JACKET!!! T-T I making this for a costume contest @ IndiePop Con and one of the many breakers is you can't just BUY stuff and have that... so I was wanting to hand sew his blue jacket since that will hide my horrendous body and I like the simple color it has, but, none of the youtube videos I have been watching have been helping and My Little Pony (Rarity) doesn't help either... and this is I believe July so not only do I have to lose weight (because he is a skinny bean) and hand sew almost EVERYTHING... so I hate to be pushy but do you have any tips for that topic specifically (also, since I am female and make up recommendations for his facial hair?)? And I will have a boat-load of fun!

Okay so I'm not the best sewer ever, but I'll try to help. So, I don't really know the rules of IndiePop Con, and I'm not sure if you have to make absolutely everything you're wearing, but I'm sure you can find some tutorials online (They have step by steps online as well as videos) for how to sew a shirt/jacket. I think I saw something a while ago for how to make a sweatshirt and they really just used their shirt as a stencil for it. If you're starting from scratch, I'd go to a fabric store and ask the people who work there about what types of materials would be best, along with if they have any tips on how to sew a shirt/sweatshirt. The people there can be of a big help. Also, they might have some booklets with certain patterns and designs and stencils for other costumes, so maybe you could use one of those and just modify it to what you want.
Hand sewing is going to take you a lot longer than if you have any way of using a sewing machine. If you don't, make sure that your stitches are tight and clean, and preferably hidden. Stitches are on the inside of a shirt, so maybe sew it together inside out, but make sure you can still flip it right side out and get the result you want. Don't rush it. (Trust me, I know the result. X3) Also, make sure ahead of time it's a bit loose on you. (Before you actually actually sew it.) I don't know if Rarity would be of help, as she can just use her magic. (Wish I could do that but anyways!) On a regular shirt, it's not simply just two pieces stitched together. The arm holes are sewed on separately, and make sure that the hole for your head is the way you want it. (Especially make sure your head can get through and that it's not too tight.) I'm also a female, so I know the annoyance of body shape. If you feel the need to lose weight, I wish you the best of luck. Make sure not to push yourself too hard, and stay hydrated, along with eating healthier. If you make the sweatshirt a bit larger, in a sense where it doesn't fit your body if that makes any sense at all, then it will help with you looking skinnier, as your shape is covered by the clothing. Also, apologies if this is pushing it I'm just trying to help as best I can, depending on your chest you can try and bind it down a bit as well. If you do bind it, PLEASE be safe and use your materials carefully and wisely!! I don't have a binder, so I use a sports bra instead along with a bigger sized shirt. There are people online who can help with that. (I think cosplay animoo could help? There are a lot of cosplayers there, so if you can't find any tutorials about binders, you could always ask one of them.)Β

Facial hair. It has value and shade. A lot of it. Usually the bottom/line of the chin is the darkest part, then the rest depends on the person's facial hair. Facial hair is not one big shape as I stated earlier. So it's not perfect, and there are going to be some stray hairs, or hairs that are lighter than the majority. Try drawing the facial hair on line by line. It doesn't have to be perfect, and you can just quickly draw it on your face, but it gives more of an illusion that you have facial hair. Oh! Jack also has sideburn kind of things...So basically, if one had a sideburn, Jack's goes all the way down his face and connects to his beard. Looking at more current photos of him, the very front of his beard, up to the little triangle shaped parts of his beard, are the darkest, while the rest of his beard, everything on his more cheek area, is a brown matching his mustache.Β

I apologize that I can't be that much help on the subject of sewing, but I'm sure there are many many people out there who could help you out, along with articles online.Β

I wish you the best of luck on your cosplay!!Β Don't stress too much over it, and remember to have fun and stay positive!!! I know it'll turn out AMAZING!!! :3
