Acrylic on canvas, and a bit of experimentation.

This whole thing was a huge leap from what I normally do. The brushstrokes, colour technique, even subject matter. I've never painted a portrait before (as this is my third painting) and I always have a hard time with colouring skin, let alone in a not-so-conventional style. But it was definitely fun and worth it (in more ways than one, I like passing classes).

I worked on this from 1430 (when I get home from school), to 630 the next morning, nonstop in order to get this thing finished. Wound up giving me a 100 for the quarter, so I'm pretty pleased on that part.

The shirt and neck I'm probably going to wind up redoing (though I'm not very sure) because I did them and the background about a week prior, when I had no motivation to really do much and had no idea what to do with it anyway. I kind of didn't really get an impressionistic style going on so I'll have to try a bit harder on that next time (as that was the goal for the assignment), but I have to admit, this was crazy fun for sleep deprivation, and for once, I'm pretty proud (even though the one eye and the neck are pretty messed up).

The reaction from my teacher was hilarious. She screamed. She might have jumped also, but since I wasn't running on anything that day, I might be making that up.

Seriously, I have got to stop leaving things on for the last minute. That was ridiculous. Though, pretty neat that I chose the subject way before I knew about the concert (which I will be going to this Saturday).

LOL, essay. Also, many many thanks to ~seigi for the paint; I only used the ones you gave me for this (minus your marshmallow), because I thought it would be quite appropriate.
