Character development. The unknown reasons that led to her extreme change in personality makes her a more intriguing and mysterious character.

So we've got Tony Stark (possibly Shining Armor) a black pony who may be the black dude from the movie whose name escapes me, Gilda('s brother?) as the evil dude, Pepper Potts pony and Pinkie Pie way out of character.
