My wanderlust has been on somewhat of an eastern-California kick lately, so I was excited when that turned out to be the location of this nice environmental snapshot in ! The skewed dimensions of this were also interesting, but I suppose that's about all a shot of a waterfall needs.
Anyway, your choices of colors are, for the most part, very good ones. You don't fall into the obvious trap of making the sky or water too blue or not making the pines dark enough. With the gray, almost periwinkle, mountains receding into the backdrop, you also demonstrate an understanding of the principles of distance. Your medium of choice gives the strokes you fleck the trees with a surprising level of third-dimensionality, and the other strokes are appropriately wispy and soft.
I'm confused by that cascade of water between the trees, though - is it the base of the waterfall? If so, I would use a great deal more foreshortening to show how far away that river reaches from the vantage point we're looking at the scene from. The way you draw that river is also curious - after a certain point where the water has calmed down, the colors should shift from white to those of whatever's overhead, like green for trees and light grey for the sky, all perhaps shifted a bit toward murky brown if the river is shallow.
In addition, I don't think the viewer should be able to see the trunk of the tree on the right; it should be mostly covered by needles and branches. The needles should also be slightly lightened when they're higher up and positioned at an angle such that they're exposed to a lot of sky light. And I would add more of those lighter-green ferns in the front, partially blocking out the river, so that they'd stand out more visibly from the trees. In short, you've got some good techniques under your belt; the main thing you ought to work on is perspective and color choices.

Thanks for your comment. This is based off a photo, so what was on the photo is what you see in terms of river colors and what is visible of the tree trunks.

I do like how this turned out. The art style is unique, and is full if detail. I love the multitude of colours in your water. The cliff face is well done.
I do feel that the waterfall itself (meaning, the actual falling water) could be defined more. At first glance, it may appear to be a simple seam between the rock, like a canyon.
On that note, I do like the perspective. I feel like I'm a ways away, staring at the waterfall as though I was at an angle, but still high above the earth. I can't see over it, but I do feel higher in the air.
I feel that the sky is a little bland, though. The blank white makes it feel overcast, which takes away from its beauty to me. Just a thought, though.
All in all, very nicely done. Good work

Thanks very much This is very true to the picture I based it off of. I didn't want to change the sky because I thought it might ruin the effect of the lighting, and I didn't want to mess with the waterfall to keep the perspective in place. I might have tried to make both more dynamic or colorful if not for trying to stay very true to my reference. Thanks again for your comment

Its verticalization is what gives impact to this picture, and the strokes give a real depth and movement, not just a graphical trick: really incredible

This is beautiful. When I saw the thumbnail I wasn't entirely sure if it was a photograph or a painting. I love the textures the paint gives to it.

You caught a nice light in your blue waterfall... Painting running water isn't easy!
