This piece hit me as rather striking. There is great contrast and accuracy on the character, and the technique for the character is very clever. This is especially true for the hair. Hair can be difficult to do, but it's done well here with its own distinct texture. The background feels a little odd. It has a cool technique like the character, but it also draws attention away from the character. Maybe a simpler background would portray a better balance? Putting the movie logo along the left side of the piece might have been cool too.

On a side note, I love Jake Gyllenhaal and I'm excited for Southpaw. Good job!
