Where to start? Firstly it immediately brings to mind the movie "The Little Shop of Horrors" and the intelligent Venus Flytrap. Or the little (not intelligent) ones in the small plastic cubes you see in the garden centers.

As to the flame itself it lends a balanced image with the gradient choice drawing the eye toward the center of the image while no detracting from the overall view. To me a perfect balance of symetry within a repetitive form. Crisp detail in both the inner lines and overall appearance of the flame.

All in all a great work showing originality and innovation!

wow, thank you so much for that good critique

Well, this piece began as this fractal: [link] and I dabbled with it in Photoshop for ages, to get the result you can see there ;>

I'm glad you like it that much

That is one vicious looking flower - but very beautiful. Lovely work.

Whoa! Is there a fractal in there somewhere or is this strictly PS CS4? In either case - nicely done!!!

well, the beginning point was the centerpiece (the cross) of [link] this fractal.

I liquified and pinched it, copypasted layers and layers, liquified again and stuff...it took quiet long (usually my cs4 pieces take about 10 minutes^^).
But well, there's nothing left of this fractal, except the gradient (I first tried to change it with the hue-tool and et voila, it worked fine ^.^).

thank you so much
