levianforever placed in my Watcher raffle and requested a tan skinned girl in a Lehenga (a traditional South Asian dress). I hope you like it, dear! ;w;It's been such a long time since I've worn an Indian outfit, and even with that, I generally wear salwar kameez's. So I had absolutely no idea how I wanted to draw this and just went at it! haha and some of the aspects of this were inspired by Hyanna-Natsu's sparkle style which you can see here! :
I was hoping that the white mixed into the lineart would give the illusion of more details, since generally, the skirt of a lehenga is very detailed ;w; ....so did I manage to trick you? lolol Some time in the future, I'll spend a little while learning how to properly shade skirts. <3 For now, with school and upcoming exams, I'm happy with how this turned out! I especially love her pose, since I used to take classes in modern Indian dancing >u<. This brought back a lot of memories //and reminders of why I was never meant for anything "elegant!"

thank you hyan ;w;! I honestly went a bit crazy with the sparkles, but it was definitely a fun technique to try out! I'm still really finding my style, but I think I've come to accept that it's fine if I don't have one yet >u< Just going to keep trying and learning!

Uh...what I mean is that this is too beautiful! I like her lehenga so much! And then her hair! Her expression is just too adorable and that pose...THAT STUNNING POSE! Everything looks so traditional *_*
So I'm gonna break it to you...when I gave you the details on how I want the chibi...I was actually giving my appearance as details...so this is basically me and I never knew I could look this good in a lehenga 
Though I know karate and I'm a blue belt B-|
I wear shalwar kaneez too at home! I'm glad it brought back some memories

I was told that maybe i should work on lighting and poses next. And while I can find a multitude of sources for poses, I'm having trouble understanding lighting ;w;

And omg... Lighting!! the thing I love and hate most about painting!!! Lol. I used to draw only in black pen so when I started with digital painting I realized it so much harder to show different lighting when you are also involving color. Everyone has different learning styles but for me there is a book that really helped. Light for Visual Artists by Richard Yot It is a really great book but TBH you can also just reference his website where he outlines the majority of the book with pictures and everything. Super generous! You can check it out here: www.itchy-animation.co.uk/ligh… I really recommend reading through this at least once! It looks a little boring at first glance maybe but if you read it and then look at the example pictures... it really made a lot of things click for me!! It just goes over lighting knowledge *in general* not necessarily on human figures but the knowledge still helps with reflected light and setting the scene, etc.
As far as light on *people* this tutorial by yuchenghong really helped me out:
It was 6$ on gumroad which was super reasonable for the amount of info it has but it is *really* Photoshop heavy
