Description
Old and abandoned Gas StationWe found this old and abandoned Gas Station along the former Route 66 somewhere in Texas, about 30 miles away from Amarillo. It was a strange place and it didn't feel good to walk on this property at night, since even though this place must have been abandoned for a rather long time, the shop still looked very intact, even though everything around was vandalized.
Right next to it there was a small copy of the famous "Cadillac Ranch", but made out of VW Beetles!

This is beautifully evocative of a feeling of a memory I've never experienced. A scent. A warm breeze. The silence with the gentlest rustle of the overgrowth. It screams summer to me.
All that sound very friggin' pompous and arse-holish. I'd never say that shit out loud. But I bloody love this photo.

For me it's one of my personal favorites of my pictures. It always makes me think of this wonderful time I had while travelling through the United States. Looking at this picture it seems to me like this way yesterday, even though several years have passed already since it was taken.
It's nice to hear, that you associate rather positive impressions when seeing this pictures and that you seem to see more than only an old abandoned car (like actually a lot of people seem to do).

I love places like this. It always seems like time has stopped there. While travelling on the former Route 66 through the country I've seen a lot of places like this. I found one place I knew from pictures a friend of mine took 12 years ago - it looked just the same way as back then
I wish I could still be travelling in the U.S...

Hehe...Ja, bin nachdem ich dir geantwortet hatte auch mal auf dein Profil und habe das festgestellt
In den USA gibt's ganz viele solcher Orte, da durch die vielen Interstates viele Orte einfach an Bedeutung verloren haben. Gibt endlos viele Geisterstädte und so weiter. Ich wäre am liebsten da geblieben, wobei ich mich dann wahrscheinlich tot fotografiert hätte
