Shadow woke slowly in a room with bandages all over his body. His head hurt like a curb stomp to the temple, his arm burned with a deep cut and his vision blurry. He looked around to see a pair terrified emerald green eyes staring at him.
Amy: Oh thank God!
She leaned down and kissed him.
Shadow:....is...is he dead?
He asked with a gruff hoarse voice.
Amy:..yes. you saved us....all of us.
Shadow recalls the horrendous fight with Eggman. He had finally lost it and set out to really destroy the world and claim the remains as an empire. He murdered sonic and Tails. Knuckles and Rouge went into hiding and Amy was left all out in the open. Upon the initial attack on station square. Half the population was wiped out. Amy was saved by a strange hedgehog with red stripes. He told her to run away. As fast as her feet could carry her...then she remembered. She hid and watched the man and the half demon destroy each other....when the dust settled she found him impaled on a peice of rebar. she took him in and settled his wounds.

I think that if you write a story from an art, it doesn't mean that you are "copying", as though you were just inspired! For example, Naruto has a lot of funz ( like me ) and they made " Sasunaru" ( my fav ), Kakanaru......but they never asked Kishimoto if they could write story about them.
So, feel free to write fan fiction! You have my permission if you want to hear that
