This is a sketch of my much loved '70 Chevy Cammy. What a beauty she is. My dad got her in the 70's and eventually kept her under covers after a wreck in the 80's. My dad gave her to me as a graduation gift.

There was a lot of work that needed to be done on her. So, I started work, slowly making my way through the twenty years of dust and rust to breathe life into her again. It was a few months before I managed to start her up, but after a few miles of test running, she broke down again.

That was when my dad decided to jump in and lend a hand. Together, we shared finances to slowly refurbish her. He continued work on her when I had to go to college and after a couple of years, when I reached home, dad had a surprise waiting for me.

Somewhere along the way, the old fart got a big job promotion he did not tell me about and used his extra earnings to transform old Cammy from a kitten into a lion.

He brought me to the garage, pulled off the tarp and there she was, all refinished and refabricated. She was still just a shell on stilts, but she looked great. Dad popped the hood and a bad ass Crate Chevy supercharged with an Edelbrock kit greeted my eyes. All of the performance parts were already installed. He purposely left out the cosmetics for my own enjoyment.

Now, she has been my baby for eight years. Dressed in black with silver racing stripes, tinted windows, chrome trims, custom side mirrors, stylish wheels and sporty skirts. As for the interior, luxurious beige leather all around, racing seats, air conditioning and a mean Kenwood sound system that will toss a bowling ball right of the trunk. I should know. I have tried.

Cammy. She is an absolute American dream.
