Description Microns in a moleslkine notebook. More scifi practice for my comicbook. This is the first spaceship I've attempted to draw since I was a kid and realized I suck at this sort of thing. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Normally I don't do any post work in the computer but I went ahead and took out the line down the middle for this one, you can see some blemishes where one page went into the other, but there are plenty of others so meh, the stars were a pain in the ass, I think I'll do them different in the future. Hope y'all enjoy.

This is pretty awesome thanks to that line work. If you want to not draw in all those stars, there are a couple of old school (pre-digital) workarounds to experiment with from a few spatter techniques to a bit of cutting and pasting (but that's only if you like adding collage to your skills, heh)...

thanks man, yeah I definitely need to experiment with some techniques before I get to space in the comic, I used gel pens for this one javandrews.deviantart.com/art/… not totally happy with the out come, but it was a lot easier. These are pretty small but I'll probably try some mask and splatter action once I'm working on the 11x17 pages

I really like this! Great style. It reminds me of some of the independent comics I read in the 80s.

Thanks! I'm trying to make my galaxy not look like every other modern sci-fi thing out there. I want it be something different, to draw people in and get them interested in the story.

You're getting in on the ground floor, I hope you enjoy what
I'm putting out, but, and this is ego speaking, it's going to be better than you expect.

Im just crazy about how you do your shading. What did you use to do the stars? I usually use white ink and a super small brush. BTW you should really really really check out Matt Howarth's stuff, especially his Particle Dreams series. He uses a lot of the same techniques.

Thanks, I took a pen brush, the same brand as the pen I was using so the inks will have the same decay rate, and just scribbled all over the background, then I used a pen to define the bands and pick out the individual stars. I like the effect of all the grays behind the stars, but it just took WAY too long. The other space scene I posted I just used a white gel pen.

You're too kind, you just poo scifi badassery, and I have to struggle... but someday I will challenge you to a scifi pimp off....TO THE DEATH!!! ...it may be awhile.

You may struggle, but you create truly awesome stuff! You have a great illustrative style that is really appealing to me. That pimp-off sounds like fun times

If you start getting impatient feel free to take any of my pics and start fucking with them. This is definitely on my to do list, but it's kind of a long list.... okay, it's a short list, but very intensive. I may have bitten of more than I can chew. My current project has an optimistic due date of five years.... yaaaay.... fuck. I'm pretty sure I'm completely insane. I'll get a sketch done in the next couple weeks that we can start passing back and forth.
