Description I love Sondheim's 'Into the Woods.' Though I know it's not his best play, it's probably the one dearest to my heart. In my sophomore year at high school I was given the opportunity to design costumes and set for it. !!! I worked with a team, and it was... difficult.
We won fourth place with costumes, but I was never quite at rest with it. Sometimes I find myself compulsively redesigning costumes, or coming up with a new way to integrate such and such a setpiece.

Here are the central characters of the play, the Baker and his Wife. I dress them in complementing shades of blue, red, and yellow, because they really are a matched set. Most productions seem to feature a taller Wife and a petite Baker (the first production I ever saw actually had an Asian Baker), and for this piece I decided to base them on Linguini and Colette from Disney's 'Ratatouille.' It fits, for a number of reasons.

Last note: the poncho thing that the Wife is wearing is based off of the favorite part of my outfit as the Blind Beggar in my high school's show of 'Beauty and the Beast' - another favorite musical of mine.

Another practice for me on the graphic tablet, from August 2008. Expect another Into the Woods piece shortly.
