It's special chinese painting paper and has hygroscopic properities.

This is so beautiful. Can I print out a copy and put it up on the wall in my house? I hope that's ok to ask, I don't come to DA that much. The fact it's a first attempt makes it even more impressive! Good work.

For a first attempt, you pulled it off wonderfully.
The subtle fade of the plum blossoms stand out nicely in contrast to the branches strong lines, and neither unbalance the artwork. Very pleasing to look at.

Actually... that's Chinese.
寒 hán = cold
紅 hóng = red
梅 méi = plum flowers
Wow, that's really great, especially for a first attempt! Great job.

That looks great! I've tried painting inkwash on rice paper before but it always bleeds too much! What kind of rice paper did you use?

Hmmm...just a painting paper. It's some low quality one - bought for training. What matters more is brush and water, maybe You haven't drained it enough. It's really hard technique.
