Actually, I am flattered when I hear my art has that strong of a reaction on someone. And I think nightmares are really interesting. Especially mine.
Actually, I have a pretty good "fanbase" (in real life, at least), but judges apparently hat me with a passion. "Honorable Mention" is a bit of a joke between me and my friends now. Heh... =_=

Yeah, when I went out for the district competition, I sent in "Synesthesia" - that huge painting with Davey Havok - and I lost to a painting of a girl playing a violin.

Sadly, that's how it is for a lot of relationships I've seen others go through. I don't think you're exactly being cynical... I think a lot of people go into "relationships" without much more thought than just wanting to have a girlfriend/boyfriend, and that never turns out well.
However, this is a reflection of something I'm going through... that is, another case of my uncanny ability to not tell people how I feel.
