No joke, I thought of "Black Spider" from Young Justice when I saw this and I had to blink to make sure it wasn't, ha! Great work here, love the black and red ^^

This. Is. AWESOME! Looks a lot like if Spider-Man was a Super Spy or Secret Agent or something. I LOVE IT!
Plus, the black and red color scheme really matches a spider more than red and blue.

You should call him Retro Spider or Spider man 2.0
I'd prefer Retro Spider

I love it for an antagonist from a video game. Perhaps some Oscorp's Suit from Spider-Man itself.

Thanks! My plan is to use this look for a universe where Spider-Man is a Robin Hood-type vigilante, stealing from those who have built their wealth on the backs of the poor

yo I'm feeling this. Although I have a few questions? wouldn't this cost even more than the web fluid and shooters?Β I like what u did with the lenses, infra red mod is hardcore, but why are they not opaque? i can still see his eyes and that is the best and cool thing about his mask u cant see his eyes or any of his face. but excellent concept I wish they could do this in the comics one dat

Thank you! It probably would cost a lot. But I mean, it's a comic. If he can afford to constantly make web shooters/web cartridges and new custom tailored suits after battle damage (even on his daily bugle wage) he could shoot for a nicer one, right? The movie costumes for the first 2 movies were apparently a value of thousands a piece. A replica or shitty reproduction of the suit goes for at least $500 online. Even if he were to make a suit himself, he would probably spend a few hundred on material alone to make a suit. Or just hit up Tony Stark, or SHIELD to have it made. As for the lenses, It was a artistic license. I liked the idea that you could see a bit of his eyes for expression.

well hey did u ever read dan slott's spider-man arcs called big time and ends of the earth? where peter is now a scientific researcher working for a science facility called Horizons lab where he invents all these inventions and gadgets for himself and the company. In those arcs he makes a 3 super cool high-tech costumes for himself. there's one awesome costume that has a green neon tron look that can go stealth mode. one is bullet proof and fire proof, and the last one is like a power ranger armor costume he wore to stop the doc ock and the other villains from destroying the planet in the ends of the earth.. those were his only cool arcs before he made superior spider-man that sucks by the way. so yeah I can still see peter inventing something like this if he has the right resources.

I've followed a lot of 'What If' Spidey redesigns, and I can honestly say that yours is one of the top 5 I've seen and I've seen a lot. (big fan of spidey). I especially like the idea of the helmet, as he does get knocked around a lot. My only question is about the night vision (I guess the green just pops out too much for me) but couldn't Parker design a night vision lens that duplicated the properties of the tech, just having it look red?
Hats off to you for this!
PS Do you do commissions?

Excellent design, the one complaint I have is his boots/shoes/whatever should have a Jika-tabi design ([link] ) for more control/contact with floors, walls and roofs.
Still a well thought out design.

"Tom Clancy meets Spider-Man" sounds pretty awesome, actually, so if somebody was thinking of using that as an insult, they obviously don't know how to insult. And "Tron Spidey" has already been done twice, first as a variant cover in honor of the then-upcoming Tron Legacy film in late 2010 and second as the actual stealth armor Peter Parker creates for himself to fight the new Hobgoblin in issues 650 and 651 of The Amazing Spider-Man. The "Tron" element comes from the suit having glowing panels on his arms and legs and making up his spider symbol, and the actual stealth function makes him both invisible and inaudible, to the point that he needed to make special goggles and earpieces for his allies to be able to see and hear him --- and the glowing panels were to ensure that he could see himself even while in stealth mode. The suit also has a defense function that blocks sonic attacks, but has the drawback of making him incapable of hearing anything around him, as the defense function interprets all sound as a form of sonic attack.
Aside from all that exposition, I do rather like your idea for Spider-Man's new costume and it does largely fit into Peter Parker's needs as a superhero. In light of his recent kick in designing new costumes with improved features for specific enemies --- it helps that he's got his own lab now and is generally free to come and go as he pleases so long as he brings viable results to the table --- I could see Peter designing this kind of costume. Besides, if it had to be "Spider-Man Meets X," I'd go with "Spider-Man Meets Snake-Eyes" or for the more video game-inclined, "Spider-Man Meets Solid Snake." I'd even go with "Spider-Man Meets Batman Beyond," since the Beyond Batsuit was designed for improved resistance and stealth against certain foes, but all in all, this is a pretty cool costume for the web-slinger and I tip my hat off to you.

You're welcome. Good work deserves to be noticed, acknowledged, and praised, and you'd definitely have a future as a professional comic book artist. Speaking of, there is a "What If?" issue for the Spider-Man vs. Wolverine comic where Spider-Man followed Wolverine and became a secret agent who trained to hone his spider-sense to such an extent that literally nothing and nobody could go beneath his notice. I'm thinking that your costume idea could be a kind of upgrade for him in a follow-up comic, something that improve his stealth capabilities. How would that sound?
