This is weeks late but still something I wanted to finish!! So Noah Schnapp, the actor who plays Will Byers in Stranger Things, came out as gay via TikTok a few weeks ago and it made me so happy I couldn’t Not draw something. I talked about it in my Instagram story but I wasn’t doing too great mentally that day, so when my mom texted me a screenshot from Facebook breaking the news (I wasn't on my phone cause I was playing video games) it made me feel so much better; pretty sure I was smiling for the rest of the day. Idk if it’s because I already love and deeply relate to Will so anything about him makes me emotional, that Noah essentially grew up alongside Will and how important he must be to him (I saw Noah refer to Will as his baby in an article and I cried), or that all of Will’s scenes hold even more weight now knowing both the actor and the character are gay (moreso Noah than Will cause y’know but STILL), regardless I’ve already cried multiple times about the entire thing. I’ve cried like 5x typing this. What can I say I’m a very sentimental and sappy person 🤧

I used three different gay flags for this drawing (you can see the other versions over on my Twitter/Instagram/TikTok <3); the original eight-stripe 1978 rainbow flag by Gilbert Baker (which is what you're seeing here), the more common six-color rainbow flag (also by Baker), and the Vincian flag from a few years ago. This was my first time drawing the Vincian flag, I’ve always loved the colors :] Fun fact, Will would’ve been around 7 when the original gay flag was first created, so I thought it’d be a cool touch (I also just love how the original flag looks and wanted to draw it). This was also my first time giving Will a color scheme! I’ve mostly been drawing him for my secret Will/Byler PMV (btw I’m hoping to maybe finish the outline in time for Stranger Things Day 2023, wink wink nudge nudge), but it’s largely in black and white so I haven't been able to figure out his palette until now. He has very similar colors to Joyce cause him looking like his mom makes me <3 anyways maybe one day I’ll finally figure out out to draw his hair 😔 it changes every time I draw him I’m so sorry William
