A silly lil doodle to announce that I got my first job recently! I'm working with my mom at Target, mainly because she's my ride and it's the easiest thing for me to do until I get a license/car/etc. I had my orientation on the 4th and the next day was my first official day on the job, so I'm halfway through my 2nd week! I'm currently off today and tomorrow and I'm not off again til Sunday.

I work pretty much the same schedule as my mom, although we're in different areas (we're both considered Inbound but she does Style Breakout while I'm pushing stuff that came off the truck). We go in super early in the morning and clock out around 10:30-11:30ish depending on the day; my only complaint is I'm often tired and have come home just to pass out a few times already. If my activity is even more sporadic than usual that's why haha. Atm the job has been ok, I enjoy stocking and backstocking stuff, and my coworkers seem to like me and are nice when I ask them questions. So far I've stocked household chemicals, personal care (toothbrushes, deodorant, etc), some health/beauty (namely stuff like hairbrushes, hairspray, etc), stationary, toys, and some storage/bedding, the latter of which I did not enjoy. I might enjoy toys, stationary and personal care/health & beauty the most! Ngl I almost had a meltdown yesterday when I was alone doing bedding/pillows/etc cause I was trying to situate my cardboard and backstock stuff on the flat, and also trying to figure out where to put a heavy mattress thing, so it was a lot. I was overheating, dealing with a headache after truck and I was frustrated, so that combo almost made me start crying but luckily I held it together. It was however a blessing in disguise because I was supposed to push another D aisle flat (which would've been more bedding stuff), but people in the backroom were blocking the best exit so I pulled another personal care U-Boat and I was fine after that. When I was having my minor breakdown my brain started going "actually I want to quit rn!!!" but as soon as I moved to an area I liked and was comfortable with I was like that "guys it's ok " Squidward meme haha

Thankfully every guest interaction I've had so far has been good, which was my main concern about getting a retail job. It's mainly just me saying 'hi' and 'good morning' but occasionally helping them find stuff when they ask. Initially I didn't know how to find specific things but my mom showed me how to look stuff up in the MyDevice, and maybe like an hour or so after she did a guest asked me where the candles were and I was finally able to give an answer that wasn't "ahh idk I'm new here it's probably over there!!1!" I'm waiting for my first Karen experience but hopefully it'll be less likely, mainly since I'm only on the clock for like 2-3 hours after the store opens and I'm not working guest service. I've also helped unload the truck twice now, which is great cause that can take up like 2 hours of my shift :3c

Buuuuuut yeah!! Can't say I'm excited to work retail but it's a job, a job that I luckily get to work with my mom and great coworkers, some of which are also gay so I gotta figure out how to not-so-directly tell them I'm family haha. I also have a work mom who adopted me before I even started so yay <3 I'm also of course excited to finally have an income that isn't the occasional art commission or birthday check, so I would like to start trying to actually commission people myself! Don't be surprised if I eventually start popping into y'all's DMs or w/e trying to throw cash at your face x3 I don't get my first paycheck for another week or so but yahoo money!!

This is actually the first thing I've drawn in like 1-2 months?? Idk I've been going through it. Still got a bunch of WIPs I'm slowly chipping away at so hopefully I'll have some fun stuff to share soon <33
