i used derwent and brynzeel pastel pencils on the lion, and soft pastels in the BG. On velour paper

You're very welcome! I'll have to try those pencils. I've only used Faber-Castell, Stabilo, and a few Contes. Do you ever use Nu-Pastels?

Nu-pastels are Prismacolor's hard stick pastels. Excellent for rendering detail.
