Everyday she found it hard to actually believe he was here and that she was now a mother. It had always been a dream of hers, but now it was reality. The lioness shifted and let out a soft sigh as she eyed the cream-coloured bundle of energy making it's way towards her. "Slow down mister, otherwise you're gonna crash!" She cooed out, and watched with an amused grin as her son slowed his pace before taking a leap for her and landing in her paws.
"Oomph!" He grunted.
The lioness lowered her head to her son and affectionately nuzzled him, allowing her tongue to graze over his back. "You're already growing up too quickly, Romeo." She sighed out, sweeping her eyes over his figure. "Sorry, mama." He frowned, looking up at her, his ears drooping.
She smiled again and shook her head. "Don't apologize." She teased him and snuggled him close to her, not wanting to let go of him. "Just don't be so quick to leave when you are finally all grown up."
"I won't, mama." He beamed back up at her.
She wasn't going to lose another important being in her life. Not again. And she'd keep wearing her mask of happiness for him, because she knew if she did, everything would eventually be okay...
