I always thought the series could be tied together directly. The Slayer of Demons leaves Boletaria in victory and ends up marked with the Dark Sign and peacefully goes to the Asylum out of fear of hurting someone like the former humans he fought in Boletaria. He becomes the Chosen Undead. The Chosen Undead chooses to let the fire fade and leaves the nation to go to Drangleic. In Drangleic he becomes the Bearer of the Curse and after seeing how slow the end of the Age of Fire is and the suffering worsening he decides he made a mistake and seeks to reignite the First Flame. The First Flame rejects him at the end of his adventure and he becomes Ash. He awakens as the Ashen One at the cusp of the end of the Age of Fire and seeks to re-ignite the First Flame once more. In the course of his adventure his desire to be helpful to the few survivors results in him gaining multiple Dark Signs and the Firekeeper's Eyes and this good will towards others, which somehow survived all his horrific experiences in his long and torturous existence, results in successfully spreading the First Flame to all humans and thereby ensure an end to the cycles and the eventual rise of man with the power of the Dark and the Fire. Probably resulting in all humans growing stronger and stronger indefinitely and becoming gods themselves someday. Then, he rises as the new Lord of Hollows with his faith in humanity restored by the remnant of his own humanity which led to this miraculous ending to his long quest to save the world.

As Raime heard the voice echoing and calling out to him, to be his champion, he came to the lowest depths of Brume Tower.
There he found two things, a crown, and a woman. The woman, though dead, spoke to him and gave him a new purpose.
"Protect me and the crown, and along with the dark fog you will find unimaginable power." And from below a sword rose from the ash. A sword that was created by the fog, and imbued with the fire of Nadalia. Raime took hold of the hilt, and a red glow began to emanate from them both.
"The pact is sealed, you are no longer Raime. Now, you are my Fume Knight."

I am in mental turmoil over whether to make a statement on the incorrectness of his equipment or celebrate your amazing art skills... meh, I'll do both...

I think he is referring to the fact that Raime did not have his Ultra Greatsword when he first encountered Nadalia. He only recieved it after devoting himself to to her.
