backstory- Dantes grew up on the outskirts of the kingdom, under Aesmirth's rule. His father kept and raised birds as companions, and Dantes grew up following in his footsteps. Of course, because of this, he has a respect for the animals of the world and values their roles in the universe. Eventually, Dantes fell in love with another wolf, and the two had pups.
However, Dantes felt an extrodinary dislike for the kingdom. He saw how the outskirts and lower class were treated and pushed around by Aesmirth's army. Dantes began to visit the secret rebel meetings, first out of curiosity. These meeting consisted of wolves in similar situations as Dantes who pledged their secret allegiance to Alikrea. Over time, Dantes became an avid member in hope of fighting for a better life for himself and his family. However, he failed to tell his wife of his allegiance as if the secret were to get out, he would surely be executed.
However, one day a spy attended the meeting and informed Aesmirth of the secret rebels pledging their alligence to Alikrea. Upon hearing this, Aesmirth grew with rage and sent her best troops to capture every wolf in the meeting as well as their families. The troops did just that. Ferris, who led the army, searched almost every home in the outskirts of the kingdom that day. Dantes was captured, not knowing of his family's impending demise.
