I don't think he could ever be an academic. Even if he had a pHD, 2 Masters, and 5 Bachelors degrees on a specific issue, his own social words would undermine his academic standing immediately.
He was like "I just went to Florida last week. It was cold. Where is the global warming?"

I feel so sorry for you, truly. I would despise idiots like that tecahing me. I would switch. Now, if they are overly confident and egotistical, I have had teachers like them.
But if they are arrogant, unrealistic, don't know what they are doing, and have baseless confidence while trying to teach others their "how tos", I have personally written letters and emails asking those type of people to get fired.

What a coincidence. All the professors who got fired or "retired earlier than expected" at my university were hard core researchers, lol.
It is a shame they are told they have to teach to do their tenure track, but still. Don't treat students like crap, like they have.
