Ok, it doesn't look so much like a cat, I'm a bad, bad, bad boy.

My first vector work. Done with Sodipodi (hey, this is Free Software!). Scaling and framing with The Gimp.

This reminds me of a small animated portuguese movie called "O Gato e a Lua" (The Cat and the Moon). The cat appeared to be in love with the moon and was always chasing it. Roof top to roof top, then in a boat, etc. In the end the moon comes to him and the cat becomes parto of the moon. Very pretty movie. I liked it a lot.

I think it's a wonderful piece of work, considering it's your first and all. ^^;; I can see the cat, but I think maybe if you lighten the sky's color a little bit, to a dark dark blue or dark violet or something instead of black (but close to black), the black cat will show up better. Nice work!
