Description

.blend file at blendswap.  Doesn't include the character, just the optics.  Character needs work.  Looks like I didn't tune this pic very carefully, oh well, it's not really important.

Lazy again.

I kept on making structures like this to get interesting visual effects from a single render, more views on the focal point, finally got around to making a good file I can just import anywhere I want.  I've got a couple of mirrors, rigged to the camera and the focal point, designed so that the reflection of the reflection of the focal point is always showing; I've got a lens; and everything's rigged for easily customizable curvature and diffusion.  Uploaded, currently to www.blendswap.com/blends/view/… , although I don't know if that URL will change if/when it gets approved.  Heavy use of unwritten modifiers in there, all my meshes are just flat circles.

Got a curve-based spine working okay, but not integrated into a complete rig.  Interlibrary loan request on a book on facial rigging.  I do have a realization, though, which is that the most important part of framing the eyelids are the eyelashes, and that some of my unhappiness comes down to them.  Focusing an eye rig on making good eyelash shapes might help.  Thought about trying out Blenrig but I can't find a good tutorial on how to rig a character using it.

Having some fun with general distortions as well, mesh deformers and warp modifiers and such.
