Hi,
Well I don't shoot over 800 so often: mostly in the situations I know upfront the light would suck. All high speed BW films on the market are very good now, I don't think it is harder to use them than say a 400 ISO film if you know how to develop film already.

Thanks!
Yes, pushed to 10k give or take. There wasn't much light available that night.

Not that Im saying anything new, but great picture. I love the expressions of the crowd, and its so dramatic in the snow or rain or whatever that is.

This is also a great picture, the grainy black and white with lots of contrast make it look very iconic. There is a lot of energy and movement in the picture, with the snow falling and peoples breath; the guy in the centre... despite what you said about it being a sarcastic laugh, still seems optimistic to me. Anyway, very impressive shot.

Thanks for the insightful comment!
To great extent I like the shot for its emotion as well; it might be not very descriptive of the event, but I hope conveys the spirit of people who gathered on the square despite threats of violence and legal prosecution by officials and harsh weather.

... And SORRY for misunderstanding the meaning of this photo. You should write something more in the description, the discovery that the subjects are the loser ones changes completely the perception of the image.

it can be misleading because people rarely look for the meaning behind the shot. the story it tells, the history behind it...
another beautiful and haunting image from the elections. gooodness man you deserve an assignment with AP. you are too good to be a freelancer you know?
cheers

Beautiful... I don't know the occasion for celebrating, but their happiness still comes through.
It reminds me of a U2 video - "New Year's Day" I think.
