(If you like this picture you can COMMISSION ME at this vaporeonlugiakrabby.homestead.... .)Sometimes I get really sick of doing Mewtwo and Mew searches, mostly because of all the badly drawn art. Even worse is the amount of badly drawn art, drawn in massive loads by the same people, and the fact that people favorite it only because it has their favorite character in it, despite the lack of quality. I'm on to you, people! Anyway...
Add trees, add space, put in a Mewtwo and a Mew (with decent lighting since some there needs to be more emphasis on it) and I get this, emo Pokemon shot. Really quick and short-cutted and frankly better than some of the whack load of images on here... freaking bunch of cell-shaded, poorly drawn, Mary-Sue wannabe whatever junk...

My Mewtwo drawings and Mewthree drawings are all like that, taking to some human features.

What's worse are all the Fakemon based on MewTwo that basically just take MewTwo (best pokemon EVER) and draws some armor, or demon wings, or claws or whatever.

No no, I mean they'll take and pretty much trace a mainframe pic of MewTwo and photoshop some demon wings, or claws or something of the like. It would be different if they were done like yours, done by hand, with obviously some effort put into it. You put a special helmet on classic MewTwo's head, he's still MewTwo wearing a helmet.

Traces technically aren't even allowed on dA, on part of the lack of effort and the copyright violations some of those can be. Any such edits, whether adding things, or doing a background swap are pretty depressing.

It's interesting the way you blended techniques--the background textures are so different from Mew and Mewtwo, but they work really well together. I like the cool tone. It's mysterious and laid back at the same time.

The color tones matched, but textures definitely do not. It's a problem I have been having with my work where either the foreground or the background does not match the style of the other. And this picture isn't even the worst of them when it comes to mismatching.
Interesting that someone noticed the things you pointed out. It's rare to have someone with some art knowledge commenting on pictures of mine.

While I'm nowhere near new to Pokemon, I am new to searching dA for Mew and Mewtwo pictures. I came back to this one after some surfing, and I must say you're right. I'm not smashing other people's work, (please, mine is mediocre at best and photoshop-less), but there seemingly is a huge hype over pictures that appear to have little effort put in.
I appreciate the satirical description, and understand it now, too.

I really love the subtle colors you have here, how soft they are, how well they mesh together with the background. You did certainly great.
As for reading your comment, I will have to agree with you a bit. I think there should be other -good hard working artists noticed.

When it doubt, blue works for everything. Makes for great continuity.
I think good, hard working artists should be recognized, and it's sad that they aren't. I'm not one of them, but I don't like seeing good art going to waste.

I love it when people actually come into this picture, then read my artist's comments, since this picture did exactly what it was designed to do, and you fell for it. This picture is, to me, junk but you came into it on the grounds that... "Hey, this picture is Popular in the Mewtwo search. It has Mewtwo in it. The thumbnail looks really good!" since you wouldn't have clicked on this if it appeared to be of lower quality, if it didn't have Mewtwo in it, and if it didn't happen to be in a place you wouldn't find it. That, my dear, was the real point. This picture, and I wholly acknowledge it, is just as undeserving of attention as some of the equally bad art you Favorite.
And since you're new, welcome to dA. I am VLK, the proverbial black sheep of the Mewtwo community, and you'll be seeing lots of me and my antics.

its also annoying when people think they actually draw better than others, ref you, this isn't even that great, so i don't know why your complaining, there other way better mewtwo pieces out there, and a million times better than this

Half expected it, but its still surprising how much you can manipulate it.

I was a little surprised too, and a bit bothered. I didn't think what I did worked so well (#1 is one of my statisticly weaker images, and beat out my personal #1, for example). People who post Mewtwo work are generally honest, but I've seen people post into say, the Pokemon search and some of the top 30 are all manipulated to be there. #21 is even stolen. Most of the searches are not genuine popularity to any extent.

I had a basic sketch placed on one of the layers, and the rest of it was just a lot of airbrushing with different sized brushes.
