These photos were taken at and around the islands of the Trobriand Island Group, just off the coast of Papua New Guinea. The people lead a primitive lifestyle and are very welcoming. They display their hand made crafts for sale and arrange for island dances to be shown for visitors.Thank you for any faves and comments. They are always very much appreciated

I remember similar scenes when we went on a cruise many years ago to islands off the East coast of Africa - Comoros, I think. Β While these displays and similar bring in the tourists and generate income through sales of crafts and so on, you wonder whether that contributes to the people not doing other things that might be more productive.Β

Yes, I guess so. They actually had a donations basket close by, the proceeds apparently to go towards the children's education.
