Woah, now it’s finally done. I bet you really can’t imagine how happy I feel about that. On the one hand, I wanted to finish it as soon as possible but on the other hand I was worried I could still ruin it in the end. But now it’s finished and I’m very proud of this drawing. After all, I’ve never worked on a drawing so long and I really believe it’s one of the best things I’ve worked on so far.
Again I decided to portray Tobias Sammet of Edguy and Avantasia. To me Tobi is the world’s greatest, funniest and most ambitious singer and songwriter.
The reference photo was taken at the Edguy gig in Saarbrücken in August 2009 – amazing concert by the way. Unfortunately this photo was NOT taken by me. I found it on www.gesichterparty.de.
At first sight his tense facial expression may look a bit strange or scary but nevertheless I think it’s an amazing shot. I didn’t want to draw some kind of typical photo-shooting picture, my intension was to draw something very powerful and spontaneous. That picture reflects the effort and energy that Tobi shows on stage while singing. That’s why I love it so much and finally decided to make that drawing.

Das ist toll geworden, die Farben sind großartig, vor allem der mutige blaue Schatten! Außerdem finde ich, dass Gesichtsausdrücke in Extremsituationen wie lautem Singen sehr schwierig darzustellen sind, und das hast du gut gemeistert!

No no no that's not right. I love your drawings, they are cool and funny. And believe me it's just practice and patience. You can't compare a drawing which was made in weeks or months to one which was made in a few minutes or some hours. I've done some portaits in 30 minutes and I was happy that you could recognize a human being...

Patience and discipline is what I really need to learn! Mostly I just can't get myself to continue working on a drawing another time.. if I don't finish it in one time, it wanders around for months on my desk and eventually it will end up in a box. Most of my drawings are made in about half an hour

Laundry is done, at least most of it. My parents will come home this evening from their vacation with probably a lot more laundry, but I guess that's for my mother. I hope she appreciates I have done a bit already

Haha, can you remember? I once told you that I was working on a Tobi drawing and then two months later I said that I'm still working on it. Believe me sometimes I just wanted to stop working on it but then I thought that would've been a waste of time, so I stopped for two or three weeks and then I continued and then I enjoyed it again. And now I'm happy I was patient and finished it.

Ooh now you have me thinking how I should continue some of my drawings.. I guess that's one step in the right direction, even if it's only a small one. Thinking is still far from doing x) I just don't know where to start, I also have my writings and they are even more neglected than my drawings, the poor things 
And I also have the feeling that I'm just blablabla-ing and not at all reacting to what you've said.. Aargh, I need to stop thinking and start doing! ^^
