An extremely overdue commission for acsmitty , who has been ridiculously lovely and patient while I struggled through this one.I knew the moment I saw Graasvoel's ref that I was going to struggle with this one, as I always seem to have a hard time with super-saturated colors. And those wings oh my goodness, the amount of layers I had for the wings alone was crazy. He's such a beautiful boy though and I loved the challenge, I think it was really great practice even though I probably would've sold my soul for a pair of stock wings that looked like that to begin with

i'm never gonna be over that gorgeous matte finish you get from all that hand-painting, it's so soft and signature and sits perfectly between photo-realistic and rendered, like..... again, just stunning. mega kudos on the wing recolor - it was the very first thing i noticed! (i ran to check the stock and nearly puked because you did such an excellent job ahahaha) second was the depth blur on the far wing, i loveΒ that you included that detail i just l ov e,,,,,
