Black MesaUpdate: I fixed the black text in the detail box in the shellstyle. It's now white, as it should be.
It's finally arrived. Incredibly, this theme has survived a year of neglect, tons of bugs, a hard drive wipe, and even being started over from scratch! I've always liked dark themes, but either found them too dark, or plagued by hardcoded black text, making it unreadable. So I decided, against my better judgement, to attempt to create a dark theme that was both uber-sleek and usable at the same time. This is the result.
I will be releasing a VSRK for this VS. What's a VSRK? Why, a Visual Style Resource Kit! It will include all the Photoshop resource files for you to play around with, study, and use for future modifications.
A compact menu and thin taskbar is included, so there's no need to ask.
I'm currently adding a database of bug reports, but please feel free to submit any bugs you notice, even if I'm already aware of them. Thank yooooou!

Great skin, I especially like it as the main parts of the interface are a gradient grey colour, whereas other skins have a dark coloured title bar but then the rest is almost white, too harsh on the eyes

Simply, awesome! This is the best dark theme out there. I prefer this one over v2 (don't like the shiny buttons) so this is exactly what I need. Thx again for this amazing piece of work.

Although I do use Ubuntu, I'm not familiar with skinning Linux, therefore I myself can't port it. If anyone else has extensive knowledge of how to do so, I'd be more than happy to give them the resource files.

Gtk pixmap engine should be the way to go, but I wouldn't do myself the port (I'm not that good, neither I have the time).
Anyway AFAIK it should be easier that windows, even though there's no visual editor, it is a matter of editing a text file pointing to the proper bitmaps

Unfortunetaly, no. I never made an official port to Windowblinds. However, once SkinStudio 5 is released, I will be making an updated version (3.0?) with full tranpsarency support, smooth window borders, and all that jazz.

I love that theme! It's one of the best dark themes I've seen, since it offers a good shading rather than just setting parts black and making a white 1px border - so it's quite easy to distingush between the toolbar and titlebars of a window. However, I've got a question. When using the compact version the "all programs" list is shortened quite early. So, if a name is too long it gets cut and the rest is repalced with 3 dots. However, the compact version cuts them off much too early - if you have a (sub)menu where the widest name is, let's say 5 letters it'll cut the last two and replace them with 3 dots. This is quite annoying because if you have similar beginnings it's not always obvious (fast to see) which one you're actualy looking for. Any chance to fix that? I've tried using ResBuild and copy the parts from "Normal" to the "Compact" version, but it didn't work, maybe I oversaw some. Can you help me?

woo, nice to hear... well read. However, I hope it stayed quite the "same" since v2 somehow sounds to me like a redesign, just keeping eg. the way of looking but recreating everything. Either way, I hope it will be at least as good as your current bm skin

Great theme, that I've been using for some time. Have two questions:
1) The icons on the windows minimize/close/resize on the top right of my windows all have disappeared are are different from what's pictured. Any idea how to fix that? Tried reinstalling.
2) Any suggestions for good explorer bar icon sets to match?
