He must have lived a rough life when you think about it.
Having to hear about the death of his mentor and his second precious student, and his best friend and first precious student turn bad, without being able to prevent any of it. Rejected by the love of his life continuesly to the point that he never found anyone else,Β and who knows what must have happened to his parents and whatever clan or family he came from. One misfortunate after the other.
Never having really left much of a good impression for the future outside of training Naruto and Minato up. Must have been depressing to live through, yet he managed to hold his head up high and strive for a better future for the next generations and ended up sacrifising his own life for it. Never once giving up or into hatred and despair. He was a good character

indeed, hopefully Naruto will get some sort of closure when it comes to Jiraiya's abrupt death (if you remember, Naruto was out looking for Sasuke while Pervy Sage was infiltrating The Village Hidden in the Rain&by the time he got back to the Leaf Village [effin 19 episodes later], Jiraiya had already been defeated by the Six Paths of Pain), just like he did with his parents
