The deeper Pinsy went, the farther he felt from understanding himself. Things were shifting and changing, like the fall, but it wasn't the nature around him. It was the spirits. And not just the curious ones he traipsed behind, hoping they knew what was going on. Instead, the change came in faces he kept seeing out the corner of his eye. Smiling, wide-eyed faces staring them all down. Soon he spun fast enough and caught one - and suddenly they all appeared, carved on tree trunks, rocks, and pumpkins hiding about. Like a chorus, they sucked breezes through the woods, their gaping cheer causing a chill. What was Pinsel Tuff to think?
