Description I painted this a good year and a half ago, and thus have no memory whatsoever of what I was thinking about at the time, except that apparently I was still in my vague-Klimt phase, and somehow that spawned a horned girl and her horned rat.

The metallics failed to scan yet again--there's a fairly intricate gold spiral pattern on part of her clothes, which stands out from the copper in person, but not on the scanner bed. Ah, well.

12 x 24, mixed media on panel. Prints available! Original for sale! Visit Red Wombat Studio for details: [link]

Great piece.

For scanning pieces with gold paint, I usually merge two images: one image taken with a frontal lighting (which can either be from a scanner or a photograph), and a second one photographed with a strong side-lighting. From that second one, I extract only the golden hues on photoshop (easy to do with the "select color range" command), place it on a layer on top of the first "full" image, and then merge the two layers. You can make re-inforce or dampen the golden hue by just adjusting the transparency of the "golden hues" layer. Usually it works fine, but you have to adjust the two images precisely so that they overlap perfectly. You may want to give it a try, it does work most of the time, and saves these wonderful golden reflexions which are too often lost in a simple scan.

Have a nice day,

Looks like a Brom-Klimt hybrid.

I think this is your true self portrait, not that "12" picture.

When I think of you, this is what I imagine you look like.

I've got the fanart group on my deviantWATCH list. The webcomic that it's based around is currently focusing on a group of 13-year-old humanoid-alien kids who have gray skin, black hair, and horns. One of the girls in the group even has ram horns. They also wear mostly black clothing.

I totally thought this picture was from that group when I saw it in my list of Deviations. You have no idea how uncanny this is.

(The comic also has recurring themes of precognition and time travel. I'm sure this is relevant in some way.)

Anyway, superb work on this! I'm liking the combination of shaded & flat regions. Shame we can't see the gold in its full glory, though!

Will have to ponder after balancing the checkbook.

Also very tempted to just get it for myself. Hee

Horned rat is adorable! I have a client who wants a horned sci fi goat-frog mutation, and I keep having to fight the urge to made it cute.

I also really love her, she is brilliantly executed, from the skin tone to the pose, to the facial expression. Something about her really appeals to me.

As always, you've done a stunning job.

i know everyone is enthralled with the metallic bits, i happen to like the background and just how well it fits the rest of the composition
dark at the top to offset the dark colors at the bottom, gives a very nice balance
